Marielle Whiting FGA
Associate Director and Jewellery Specialist
Marielle Whiting is an Associate Director of Woolley and Wallis and took over the running of the Jewellery department in 2017, having worked closely with Jonathan Edwards since 2009.
Marielle has been instrumental in building up the jewellery auctions so that her department is now recognised as the leading department for jewellery outside of London. She achieved her FGA qualification in 2010.
During her career to date, Marielle has achieved the following:
- The sale of a pair of natural pearl and diamond earrings for £1.6m; the highest price for any item of jewellery sold at auction outside of London.
- The single owner sale of the Dr Anne Shannon collection in November 2018, where every single lot was sold.
- The sale of the largest single natural round pearl at auction, for £810,000.
- The identification of a Renaissance intaglio ring as one of the lost Marlborough Gems, and its subsequent sale for £77,500.
Marielle has a particular focus on antique jewellery, although a keen personal interest in the jewellery designers of the 1970s. She is regularly called upon to vet jewellery for several of the UK’s major antique fairs.
