Chalke History Festival 2024
5th July 2024The general 'iffiness' of this year's British summer mercifully held off for most of the duration of the Chalke History Festival, which we were delighted to continue our long-standing association with.
It was the perfect Friday evening to enjoy a Pimm's and a catch-up with our clients before our sponsored event of 2024 - this year (for the first time) the ever-popular Histrionics quiz. Have I Got News For You met Whose Line Is It Anyway? in a highly entertaining history mash-up chaired by Charlie Higson, with teams of Dan Snow and Anuvab Pal, Alice Loxton and Laurence Rickard. From the murmured answers behind us, it was clear that the knowledge of many of the audience members surpassed that of the quiz teams but that they enjoyed it all the more for that!
A slight change to the festival's organisation this year saw a record attendance - up even on the 55,000 visitors from 2023 - with more school participation and events for young historians attracting families to the Wiltshire site.
"Woolley and Wallis has been involved in supporting the festival since its inception in 2011 and is proud to be one of it's most enduring sponsors," said Chairman, John Axford. "We have sponsored a great variety of talks and events over the last 14 years and have enjoyed seeing the festival grow in popularity and numbers. Long may it continue!"
