An Edwardian silver two-handled cup and cover,

plain urn form, shell-capped scroll handles, the front engraved with an armorial, pull-off cover with an urn finial, on a raised circular foot, the underside inscribed 'This cup represents the value of gold lace taken off Hussar and Equery uniforms worn by Major General Sir Stanley Clarke', height 45cm, approx. weight 67oz.

The armorial is that of Clarke impaling Rose. Major-General Sir Stanley de Astel Calvert Clarke, GCVO, CMG (died 29 November 1911). He married Mary Temple Rose in 1867.
