A late-19th century Aesthetic Movement electrogilded and electroplated pot / ewer,
unmarked circa 1880,
tapering circular form, engraved with a flamingo and fern decoration, with an insect and bird, the reverse with a Persian man being served a drink, bifurcated scroll handle mounted with masks, the hinged cover with a hand finial, on a circular base, height 13.5cm.
As there are no insulators in the handle, it has been suggested that this was for serving a cold drink, possibly Absinthe.
