An early 17th century silver desk seal,
unmarked circa 1625,
the oval intaglio with the arms of Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick, the baluster handle with three bands of double thread lines, height 4.7cm, approx. weight 3oz.

Robert Rich 2nd Earl of Warwick (1587-1658) was the son of Lord Robert Rich and Penelope, daughter of Walter Devereux, 1st Earl of Essex. He was educated at Emmanuel College Cambridge and was admitted to Middle Temple in 1604. He was returned as the member of parliament for Maldon in 1610 and 1614.
