A George I silver tobacco box,

by Edward Cornock, London 1723,

oval form, the cover with an armorial and crest within foliate scroll mantling, the underside of the base engraved 'Henry Weekley Tuthill [sic] Street Westminster, and with three armorials and a vignette of St. George on horseback slaying the dragon, and later dated '1735', length 9.7cm, approx. weight 4.1oz.

Henry Weekley is recorded as a cloth worker in Tothill Street, Westminster.

The arms on the cover are unrecorded, the arms on the base are for The Worshipful Company of Grocers, The City of London and The Worshipful Company of Clothworkers.
