A George III old English pattern scoop, engraved with a crest (probably Deverel or Emerson), below the motto 'Post Nubila', by Richard Crossley*, London, 1784, 9in (22.8cm), 1.4oz. *Tim Kent remarks: 'Crossley began in the Chawner workshop as the charcoal boy, known as 'Charcoal Dick'. Later he became on of the main trade suppliers of flatware and made his fortune.'
