A late 17th century silver-gilt amatory spice box,
unmarked circa 1680,
rectangular form, canted corners, the hinged cover engraved with a central panel of a running cupid and engraved with quivers of arrows and alternate panels of pierced and bleeding hearts and buildings, with the inscriptions 'Il est Fidelle', 'C'est Asse', 'Un me sufit', another building, 'Plein de feu', the side panels with similar decoration and inscribed 'Plus de Deux' and 'Plein de Feu', the base engraved with a flaming heart and 'Plein de Feu', length 3.6cm, approx. weight 0.4oz.
