A William and Mary silver spice box, maker's mark of T.T crowned, attributed to Thomas Towney or Thomas Tucker, London circa 1694, oval form, the slightly raised cover engraved with a bird within foliate scroll decoration, the base and sides with similar engraved decoration, the interior inscribed, 'Let Vertue rule affection H.M. 1694', length 5.6cm, approx. weight 1.1oz. Purchased from Sotheby's, London, 5 February 1981.
