An early 18th century Channel Islands silver-gilt trefid spoon, maker's mark once to stem, GS with a fleur de lys and crown above, maker's mark unknown, Jersey circa 1700, oval bowl with a plain rat-tail, the spoon with later decoration and prick dot initials 'A' and 'K.H', wear to later gilding, length 18.7cm, approx. weight 1.5oz. ** For an illustration of the maker's mark see: Richard Mayne, Channel Island Silver, Oxford University Press, 1985, page 91.
