Elizabeth I, the defeat of the Spanish Armada, Dutch silver jeton, struck at Dordrecht, 1588, a family of four at prayer, HOMO PROPONIT DEVS DISPONIT, rev., a Spanish galleon breaking up against rocks, HISPANI FVGIV'T ET PEREV'T NEMINE SEQVETE, 29mm (MI 147/116; Eim. 60; vL I, 386; Dugn. 3188). Extremely fine with even tone, rare.
The jeton refers to the great storm that followed the Armada and in which many Spanish ships were lost.
