A James I / Charles I West Country silver Apostle spoon, St. Andrew,
possibly by John Parnell, Truro circa 1620,
fig-shaped bowl, the reverse of the stem engraved '206', tapering stem with an gilded Apostle finial, with a floral rays of glory nimbus, length 18.3cm, weight 1.7oz.
Provenance: Sotheby and Co, The Ellis Collection, 1935, lot 206, sold for £13. The spoon is catalogued in this collection as being by I. Parnell, Barnstable, circa 1580, illustrated on page 144.
