A Victorian silver sandwich box,
by John Samuel Hunt, London 1863, retailed by Hunt and Roskell,
rounded rectangular form, the hinged cover applied with a drop-ring handle below an engraved earl's coronet and the initials C.S, length 12.2cm, approx. weight 10.8oz.
Provenance: The Althorp Attic Sale, Christie's South Kensington, 7 July 2010, lot 258.
The initials are those of Charlotte, Countess Spencer (1835-1903) wife of John Poyntz, 5th Earl Spencer (1835-1910).
