A collection of four French silver serving dishes,
by Ernest Cardeihac, circa 1900-10,
comprising: a graduated set of three circular dishes, and an oval platter, foliate scroll borders, each applied with a gilded armorial, diameters 34cm and 30cm, length of platter 48.5cm, plus an oval double lipped dish, and two electroplated trays, one by Puiforcat, inscribed, approx. weighable 143oz. (7)
The arms are those of Baron Etienne Gustove Frederic Van Zylan Van Nyevelt 1860-1934. He married in 1887 Helene De Rothschild 1863-1947. They lived in De Haar castle in Haarziulens which was rebuilt and designed by Pierre Cuypers who also designed Amsterdam Central station and the Rijks museum.
Provenance Baron Etienne Gustove Frederic Van Zylan Van Nyevelt, and then by descent to the present owner.
