A George III Scottish provincial silver snuff box,
by William Clarke, Greenock circa 1800,
rectangular form, canted corners, the flush hinged cover inscribed 'Auriculars 1799' and 'Carnations 1800', and with engraved flowers, the underside inscribed 'Given as a Premium to Mr J McLachlan by The Greenock Florists Society for Auriculars and Carnations 1799 and 1800', length 7.2cm, approx. weight 2.8oz.
