A George III silver two-handled cup and cover,
maker's mark not traced, London 1765,
baluster form, leaf capped scroll handles, gilded interior, the pull-off cover with a raised foliate scroll finial, the front engraved 'SP to GC' and 'A sign of Thanks', on a raised circular foot, height 35,5cm, approx. weight 49oz.
Provenance: The initials G.G are for George Culley, (1735-1813) Agriculturalist. The Culley family owned Fowberry Tower and Coupland Castle in Northumberland.
Then by family descent to the current owner.
