maker's mark of a fringed S, for William Simpson, probably London 1538,

fig shaped bowl, faceted tapering stem, the finial with traces of gilding, the reverse of the bowl with later scratch initials 'A*L', with an old collection label, length 15.7cm, approx. weight 1.2oz.
