DAY ONE: Lots 1-360
DAY TWO: Lots 361-716
The December auction features over 700 lots of 20th-century and contemporary art. Amongst the highlights is a bronze horse by Elisabeth Frink, which was originally presented to Lord McAlpine by Queen Elizabeth II on behalf of Goodwood Racecourse. There are also two paintings by Félix Vallotton, both dating from 1912, which have been in a private collection since the 1980s. Two works on paper by Henry Moore provide a fascinating insight into his creative process in the early 1950s, and were once part of Peter Meyer’s outstanding collection of Modern British art. Other highlights of British art include works by Stanley Spencer, Laura Knight, Herbert La Thangue, Edward Hornell, Keith Vaughan, John Piper, Frederick Gore and Sophie Ryder.
