Hugh Frazer grew up in Northern Ireland and now lives in Dublin. He has increasingly combined his career as an expert on national and European policies to combat poverty with that of a professional artist. His urban landscapes explore the contrast between old and new and the drama of light and shadow and the abstract shapes they create. His still lifes are meditations on the interconnectedness of things and he is interested not so much in the individual objects but how each gains meaning and value through its connection with other objects. His work often evokes a sense of stillness and suspense. Frazer has exhibited regularly with the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin and in recent years also with the Royal Ulster Academy. He has had two solo shows in Brussels (Chapitre XII and European Commission) and three in Dublin (the Doorway Gallery).
