Julian Bailey was born in Cheshire in 1963 and is based in Dorset and London. He is a painter of the human figure, working mainly in oil paint and gouache. Bailey studied with Patrick Hamilton in Florence, before going to Oxford University, the Ruskin School of Art with post graduate studies at the Royal Academy Schools. In 2011, he was elected a member of the New English Art Club. Painting almost every day for thirty years, Bailey has developed a very concise style, characterised by his ‘drawing in paint’ approach. His solo exhibitions have included multiple shows at Browse and Darby in London.
