John 'Warwick' Smith (1749-1831) Kenfig Castle
John 'Warwick' Smith (1749-1831)
Kenfig Castle, Glamorgan
Inscribed by the artist July 4th 1795. The slight remains of Kenfig Castle - once the distinguished possession of Robert Fitzhamon after his conquest of Glamorgan. The ruin is part of the keep; it's elevated situation on a mount has preserv'd it, after the ravages of the sea on the coast desolated the surrounding districts and cover'd them with overwhelming sand (under the mount at the bottom of the drawing according to label)
