Edith Olivier (1872-1948) was a writer and a hostess to a circle of well-known writers, artists and composers in Wiltshire. Her social set included Siegfried Sassoon, Cecil Beaton, Osbert Sitwell and Rex Whistler. She said of Sassoon that he was 'such fun to tell things to. Laughs so utterly'.
