Our June sale features over 500 lots of 20th-century and contemporary art. Highlights include paintings by Ivon Hitchens (lot 55), Harold Harvey (lot 30), John Piper (lot 116), John Maclauchlan Milne (lot 57), and Charles Ginner (lot 51). The sculpture section features bronzes by Elisabeth Frink (lot 157), Willi Soukop (lots 155-156) and a magnificent portrait bust of George Bernard Shaw by Jacob Epstein (lot 64). There are also fine examples of 20th-century printmaking from Howard Hodgkin (lots 148-149), Terry Frost (lots 137-143), Julian Trevelyan (lots 150-154) and Muirhead Bone (lots 20-22). The sale concludes with the collection of the late Howard Duckworth, which, at its core, provides a survey of Modern British wood engraving, with examples by John Nash (lots 320-343), Eric Ravilious (lots 354-355), Gertrude Hermes (lot 352), Ethelbert White (lots 412-444), and Monica Poole (lots 479-483).
