Indian Mutiny interest: a mid-19th century Indian gold signet ring attributable to Colour Sergeant Daniel Beare of the 53rd Regiment of Foot, the shank cut with scrolling foliage to the shoulders, the rectangular table with canted corners inscribed in reverse ‘D. BEARE COLr SERGt’; associated case.



Colour Sergeant Beare was present with his Regiment, the 53rd (Shropshire) Regiment of Foot, for operations during the Indian Mutiny of 1857, and qualified for the medal with clasp ‘Lucknow’.
