A 38 bore five-shot Model 1851 Adams's patent self-cocking percussion revolver by Deane, Adams & Deane, sighted octagonal barrel 7.5 in., top inscribed 'DEANE, ADAMS & DEANE (MAKERS TO H.R.H. PRINCE ALBERT.) 30 KING WILLIAM STT LONDON BRIDGE.', acanthus engraved frame inscribed 'ADAMS' PATENT REVOLVER. No 86', nipple wells formed as truncated cones, radiused cylinder bolt, London proof; with an associated fitted case and accessories. Section 58(2) - no licence required if possessed as a curiosity or ornament.

A scarce early production example.Taylerson, Andrews& Frithin 'The Revolver 1818-1865' note that the change from 34 to 38 bore for the large Adams revolvers occurred during the 200-400 serial range, yet the present example appears to measure as 38 bore.
