The Military Cross to Major Herbert Cecil Worrall, Royal Field Artillery: M.C., George V, reverse privately engraved 'MAJOR H. CECIL WORRALL ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY', In case of issue, good very fine or better.
M.C. London Gazette 11/01/1919 "For conspicuous gallantry during an attack. Seeing the enemy attempting to man an Anti Tank Gun for use against the advancing infantry he at once opened fire on it and knocked it out. He then turned his Gun on a trench which the infantry were approaching and caused the enemy in it to surrender without fighting. Both these actions were entirely on his own initiative, and he was under shell fire throughout"
Joined in 1901 and posted to India by 1911 (Sergeant). Entered France with 2nd Brigade RFA as a sergeant. Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant 01/10/1914 for services in the field (L.G. 13/11/1914 p. 9269). Captain, appointed Major to command D battery 09/08/1917. M.C. action October 1918 while D battery were serving in the Havrincourt sector. Offered with research.
