Two Great War medal trios to the 18th Battalion London Regiment (London Irish Rifles): 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory Medals (1480 PTE. W. H. W. FOX. 18-LOND. R.), very fine, together with three school attendance medals; 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory Medals (1788 PTE. A. HALSEY. 18-LOND. William Henry Walter Fox died of wounds 06/10/1918. His battalion was in Divisional Reserve on this day, but had come under sniper and machine gun fire South of Fromelles 02/10/1918 with the War Diary reporting "30 other ranks casualties"
* Sometime MP for Kennington and Deputy Lieutenant of the City of London. Crosses of this type are commonly attributed to the Fiji Labour Corps but this appears to be an error.
Provenance: The Paul Morrissey Collection.
