A group of six medals to Acting Major Harold Arthur Lane, O.B.E., 18th Battalion London Regiment (London Irish Rifles): The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Military Division, Officer's Breast Badge, first type; 1914-15 Star (LIEUT. H.A. LANE. 18/LOND. R.); British War Medal 1914-20 and Victory Medal (MAJOR H. A. LANE.); Defence Medal and 1939-45 War Medal, unnamed as issued; mounted for wearing, very fine or better. [6]
Enlisted in the 14th Battalion London Regiment 17/02/1909, and attended annual training thereafter until discharged on termination of engagement 17/02/1913 (1063 Pte.). Applied for a commission in September 1914 and entered France with 1/18 Battalion 19/07/1915. O.B.E. London Gazette 01/01/1919 "for valuable services rendered in connection with military operations in France and Flanders." Offered with copy research.
