A blacksmith from Portsmouth, Morley enlisted in the R.E. in August 1914 aged 23 years, and served in France with 23rd Field Company until sustaining a wound to the head at Loos, 29/09/1915, and being hospitalized to the U.K. He returned to active service in Salonika in January 1916, where he contracted malaria. In the inter-war period he served in Dublin and India, received his LS.G.C. in 1933, and his M.S.M. between 1949 and 1953. Offered with research.
