WATTS. 9/ DURH: L.I.); British War Medal 1914-20 and Victory Medal (9-4240 PTE. J. WATTS. DURH. L.I.); Defence Medal; Jubilee Medal 1935; Territorial Efficiency Medal, George V (2555495 SJT. J. WATTS. M.M. R. SIGNALS.); display mounted together with D.L.I. and R.C.S. insignia, medals good very fine. [6]

M.M. London Gazette: 11/12/1918. The timing suggests an action in late July/early August 1918, perhaps during the early days of the Battle of Amiens. The 9th DLI war diary list 33 M.M. recipients, including Watts, 26/08/1918 The previous major action having been in the area of the Bois de Reims and Maisonette 20-23/07/1918.

Born 16/05/1896 in Boyne, County Durham and worked as a coal miner before the war. Offered with research.
