A continental steel shield
A continental steel shield, or target, probably Italian, convex circular form with a roped edge, the surface shaped into a series of curving radial steps meeting in the centre to form a low peak, all within a recessed border, remains of leather straps to the reverse, in the manner of the 16th century and thought to be of the period.
