The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire: the Companion's neck badge (military) attributable to Colonel Mossom Archibald Boyd, C.B.E., Royal Engineers, Britannia type, gilt and enamels, cased, wear to gilding, nearly extremely fine; together with the C.B.E. bestowal document (June 1919), a dress miniature C.B.E., and a photograph of the recipient in Royal Engineer's uniform.

Born in 1860, the Son of General Brooke Boyd, and first commissioned in the Royal Engineers 18th February 1880, Mossom Archibald Boyd served in various capacities including as Chief Instructor of the School of Submarine Mining from 1892-97. Promoted Colonel on half pay 5th September 1910, he served for the duration of the First World War at the Royal Engineers establishment at Aldershot.
