A Retro ruby and diamond brooch, 1940s, designed as a bouquet of flowers in polished gold, set with circular-cut rubies and circular- and brilliant-cut diamonds, tied with a platinum ribbon set with single-cut diamonds, length 5.3cm

Attractive and in good condition, estimated total diamond weight ≈0.90 carats. Rubies deep red and attractive, well-matched for colour, in good condition. Gold with some discoloration. One ruby flower slightly bent back - this may be part of the original design to give three-dimensionality, or it may have been slightly warped through use. Gold tests as ≈9ct. Gross weight ≈17.8 grams.
