Cartier, an extremely rare Art Deco Egyptian Revival ruby and diamond necklace, 1920s, composed of a U-shaped pendant with stylised falcon-head terminals inspired by usekh necklaces, pavé-set with circular-cut diamonds, encircling an abstract floral arrangement of cabochon rubies, suspended at each side from a pair of beads applied with black and red enamel, mounted in platinum and gold, on a necklace composed of cylindrical and spherical onyx beads threaded on black silk, pendant length 4.6cm excluding beads, necklace length 69cm, pendant signed Cartier Londres, numbered S.L7352, additionally numbered 5842, 5513 and 7895, design later altered by Cartier to add rubies and beaded onyx necklace, probably circa 1925, necklace unsigned, platinum clasp possibly later addedProvenance: a British family collection, by descent.
