A diamond ring, France, late 19th century, of cluster design, centring on a cushion-shaped diamond
A diamond ring, France, late 19th century, of cluster design, centring on a cushion-shaped diamond in a foil-backed setting, within a border of cushion-shaped diamonds, to shoulders of plume design, mounted in silver and gold, size N, French maker's mark JW, numbered 722
Central diamond measuring approximately 9.6 x 7.2mm, depth not possible to measure in mount. Slight yellow tint, M+ colour, clarity possibly VS2, nil fluorescence - one green fleck visible through stone likely to foiled backing rather than in diamond. Estimated remaining total diamond weight approximately 0.60-0.70 carats. Discoloration to metal, evidence of risizing to shank. An unusual and highly attractive ring, gross weight 3 grams.
