A silver head of Medusa pendant by Reuben Watts of New Zealand, C1930. Realistically formed with a grimacing face and writhing serpents. Suspending two oval-shaped red paste pendants, box-link neck chain terminating to each side with further writhing serpents. The pendant 7cm wide. Engraved to the reverse. W. Reuben Watts Fecit. With spurious lion passant mark.
Reuben Watts (1869 - 1940) emigrated to New Zealand in 1900 and pioneered the Arts and Crafts movement there with his silver manufacture.
