A rock crystal, enamel and diamond mourning ring, circa 1728, centring on an oval rock crystal panel over woven hairwork, between diamond shoulders, the band applied with black enamel, the inscription 'Jemima, Dutchess of Kent Ob:27 July 1728 Ae:53' in reserve, size L

Jemima, Duchess of Kent (1675-1728) was born Jemima Crew, daughter of Thomas Crew, 2nd Baron Crew. She lived with her husband, Henry Grey, 1st Duke of Kent, at Wrest Park in Bedfordshire. A portrait of the Duchess and her daughter Jemima by Godfrey Kneller can be found at Wrest Park, in the care of English Heritage.
