An 8th century North Caucasian/Bulgarian bronze belt plaque, rectangular with oval buckle, and engraved hinged pin, centred with replaced modern oval cabochon garnet within gold quartered sections decorated with concentric circles of pellets and wave patterns, border of flat garnets, 9.6cm wide (including buckle), 5cm high.
Provenance: from the collection of Adolphe Stoclet, 1871-1949.
