A fine gem-set brooch
A fine demantoid garnet, spinel, sapphire and diamond brooch, late 19th century, designed as a bee in flight, its head set with a cushion-shaped sapphire and cushion-shaped diamond eyes, its thorax set with a cushion-shaped pink spinel, and its abdomen set with three calibré-cut demantoid garnets weighing an approximate total of 3.30 carats, the wings set with rose-cut and cushion-shaped diamonds, mounted in silver and gold, wingspan 5.7cm
