A gold and gem-set snake bracelet
A gold, enamel, ruby, opal and diamond snake bracelet, possibly Switzerland, mid 19th century, designed as a snake biting its own tail, its articulated gold body elaborately engraved with and applied with scroll decoration in blue and white enamel, its head applied with blue basse taille enamel and set with floral arrangements of cushion-shaped and rose-cut diamonds, one central diamond of pale pink hue, centring on a cabochon opal, its eyes set with oval rubies, length 18.5cm
