S.J. Rood, an Art Deco brooch
S.J. Rood, an Art Deco amethyst and diamond brooch, circa 1920, set with a large circular-cut amethyst, within a geometric brooch of buckle design set with circular- and single-cut diamonds, length 4.2cm, fitted case stamped Rood
SJ Rood was founded in 1873 as manufacturers and retailers of jewellery, and catered to an elite clientele from their premises in Mayfair's famous Burlington Arcade. The quality of their jewels attracted the patronage of Queen Mary (r.1910-1936), whose Royal Warrant is displayed on the fitted case accompanying this stylish Art Deco brooch.
