EDO OR MEIJI PERIOD, 18TH OR 19TH CENTURY
The tea caddy with a cylindrical body raised on a short foot, delicately painted with a continuous band of tokeiso (passion flowers), scrolling tendrils and leaves rendered in gold and silver takamaki-e and kirikane, with bands of brocade designs above the foot and to the rim, the lid with a chrysanthemum flowerhead encircling the circular knop, the inside in black lacquer, 7cm.
