A JAPANESE BUDDHIST SCROLL PAINTING, KAKEMONO
EDO PERIOD OR EARLIER, 18TH CENTURY OR EARLIER
In ink and colour on silk, depicting the six-armed Wisdom King Aizen Myo-o holding his various attributes including a vajra, a ghanta, a lotus bud and a bow and arrow, seated on an elaborate lotus throne raised on a kalasa vase, a large red orb enveloping the god and with Buddhist jewels scattered around him, 79cm x 36cm.
