A LARGE JAPANESE BRONZE KORO OF MONJU BOSATSU BY GENRYUSAI SEIYA
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH OR 20TH CENTURY
The Bodhisattva seated on an elephant and looking thoughtful as they hold a handscroll; the figure is depicted wearing loose robes and elaborate jewellery, forming the cover of the incense burner; the mount's caparison and harness embellished with strings of beads and floral patterns, inset with small mother of pearl and stone buttons, some later replacements; with an inner liner and raised on an oval wood stand, the belly of the pachyderm signed in a square seal Genryusai Seiya zo, 43cm max.
