A JAPANESE SHAKUDO HIRADO SCHOOL TSUBA
EDO PERIOD, 18TH CENTURY
Shaped as a large cross with a ring linking its arms, the black surface decorated with designs of scrolling leafy tendrils, unsigned, with Hozon Tosogu (Sword fitting Worthy of Preservation) certificate no.4014660 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (The Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword), dated 22nd February 2019, in a kiri box, 7cm. The Hirado School was active during the Kyoho era (1716-1736) under the master Kunishige.
