A JAPANESE SHAKUDO NAKAGAMI SCHOOL TSUBA

EDO PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY

The circular body decorated to one side with two cranes, one in flight and another perched amongst the branches of a pine tree, with mountains visible in the distance; the reverse with pine branches by a stream, with details highlighted in gold and silver inlays and the rim with a gold ring, with Hozon Tosogu (Sword fitting Worthy of Preservation) certificate no.4003921 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (The Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword), dated 17th January 2014, in a kiri box, 6.6cm.
