TWO JAPANESE JINGASA

EDO AND MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY

The first war hat in dark russet brown lacquer, the top with three gold lacquer kuyo mon designs of eight small circles around a larger one, the underside in black lacquer with gold squares and triangles, together with a modern wood stand; the other in iron, made up of fourteen metal plates and rivets with round heads, 44cm and 40cm respectively. Provenance: from a private European collection.

The kuyo mon was the family crest of the Hosokawa clan.
