A JAPANESE VASE BY MAKUZU KOZAN (1842-1916)
MEIJI OR TAISHO PERIOD, 20TH CENTURY
The bulbous body raised on a flared foot, decorated in underglaze blue and purple and overglaze red and yellow enamels, with two large peonies amongst foliage and two small birds, one flying towards the blooms and the other perched on a branch, a small butterfly above, the base signed Makuzu Kozan saku, 25.5cm.
