A JAPANESE VASE BY SEIFU YOHEI III (1851-1914)
MEIJI OR TAISHO PERIOD, 20TH CENTURY
The ovoid body decorated with a continuous design of butterflies fluttering amongst large peonies, with leafy branches depicted in various shades of green on the deep honey-yellow ground, with details incised and others rendered in low relief, the base signed Seifu, raised on a wood stand and with two tomobako wood boxes, the inner box inscribed Hyakka nishiki botan no zu kabin (flower vase with hundred colourful peonies) with seal, the lid signed Seifu tsukuru (made by Seifu), the outer box with similar inscriptions, 26cm.
