A JAPANESE GOSU SATSUMA VASE
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
Of baluster shape and typically decorated in gilt, red, and thick blue enamels, painted with an abundance of chrysanthemum flowers, a band of shippo tsunagi cash above the foot and with shaped panels to the neck enclosing further flowerheads, scrolling tendrils and coin designs, the base signed Dai Nihon Meygyokuzan and with a red fuku seal mark underneath the Shimazu mon, 18cm.
